It provides the basis for transnational sales transactions in about 50 countries, including most of the EU member states, the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and China. The United Nations Uniform Sales Law is applied by courts and arbitration tribunals around the world. Individual jurisdiction's domestic laws are based on the UN Sales Law and it has influenced numerous modern codes, making the Convention an indispensable source for scholars and practitioners dealing with sales law worldwide. This commentary is a translation of the second edition of the German "Kommentar zum Einheitlichen UN-Kaufrecht - CISG" published in 1995. This English edition has been brought totally up to date, including case law up to the Spring of 1997. The team of authors - experts in their respective fields, several of whom were involved in the drafting of the Convention itself - provide a commentary on each article, describing its history, underlying policies and connections with other articles, analysing key scholarly views and court decisions and dealing with the article itself. Titre : The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Titre original : A Commentary Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Christopher KUNER, Auteur ; Lee A. BYGRAVE, Auteur ; Christopher DOCKSEY, Auteur Editeur : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2020 Importance : 1393 pages Format : Relié ISBN/ISSN/EAN : 978-0-19-882649-1 Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Informatique, Droit du numérique, droit des données, IA Mots-clés : RGPD GDPR data protection commentary provisions principles obligations protection des donnés Index. décimale : 349.497 Résumé : This new book provides an article-by-article commentary on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation. Adopted in April 2016 and applicable from May 2018, the GDPR is the centrepiece of the recent reform of the EU regulatory framework for protection of personal data. It replaces the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive and has become the most significant piece of data protection legislation anywhere in the world. The book is edited by three leading authorities and written by a team of expert specialists in the field from around the EU and representing different sectors (including academia, the EU institutions, data protection authorities, and the private sector), thus providing a pan-European analysis of the GDPR. It examines each article of the GDPR in sequential order and explains how its provisions work, thus allowing the reader to easily and quickly elucidate the meaning of individual articles. An introductory chapter provides an overview of the background to the GDPR and its place in the greater structure of EU law and human rights law. Account is also taken of closely linked legal instruments, such as the Directive on Data Protection and Law Enforcement that was adopted concurrently with the GDPR, and of the ongoing work on the proposed new E-Privacy Regulation.
